Frequent Questions
What if I am unsure if you can help with my problem?
I am always happy to discuss ways that I can help, or refer you to someone who might offer more appropriate assistance. Feel free to contact me.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required will depend on the issue and your own individual circumstances.
It’s very useful to agree on some sort of goal: “I’d like to sleep better”, or “be able to speak with customers”, or “not have flashbacks”. We can do that together in the initial call or in the first session.
With some issues, only a single session may be needed! That said, I usually recommend that we plan for 3 sessions, and then reassess our success at this point to see if any additional work is required.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payments can be made by bank transfer, PayPal, Stripe, Wise.
Or by cheque or cash if you’re seeing me in person.
Do you work on-line only?
I offer online sessions via Zoom or other platforms, or, locally, on the beautiful Isle of Skye (Scotland) if you happen to be here.
Do you work in Spanish too? ¿Trabajas también en español / castellano?
Sí, claro. (Yes, of course.)
Does EFT really work?
The short answer is: if used well, it can give you surprisingly good results, both during the session and, more importantly, in the longer term.
The longer answer…
I worked as an epidemiologist for many years, so being a scientist is deeply ingrained. If there’s a chance, I’d like to know not only IF things work, but also HOW.
When I first started using EFT, I was surprised by the inner sensation of calm and deep focus. The next surprise was the use of several ways to measure changes. In the immediate term, during the session or later, we can use simple scales for subjective change: SUDS (Subjective Units of Distress) and Validity of Cognition (VOC). “On a scale from 1 to 10, how curious are you now?”
Once we go “out in life”, we can also notice the small and big changes: better sleep, being able to do things we couldn’t do before, people asking us what good thing has happened to us, etc. And of course sometimes we notice what we don’t notice: “I just realised, I haven’t had those thoughts or emotions for a long time”. Or “I’feel free to travel!”.
Then there is the question of “HOW does it work?”. I have looked at the “meridian” model, and the word “energy” seems to refer to things that we don’t understand yet – but the experiences and the results seem compatible with scientific exploration. In any case, for those of us who prefer to stay on more classic ground, I find there are more than enough reasons why “tapping” works: it puts power in our own hands, it allows us to focus on the issue while staying calm, and used skillfully it can facilitate improvements in emotions, beliefs and behaviours – the proof is in the pudding, and there’s evidence.
As a conclusion: my clients are in learning mode – otherwise they wouldn’t be seeking any assistance to improve their lives. And so am I, given that… I’m only in my sixties!
